Peer Minister
The Peer Ministers position was instituted in 2020 to give Sophomore students the opportunity to contribute to the LSSU Catholic Newman Center while still living on campus. Peer ministers help run educational and outreach events, maintain center grounds, and encourage a supportive and faithful atmosphere on and off campus. Peer ministers will directly contribute at least five hours a week to the ministry, but are expected to attend other faith-development events, including Mass, regularly outside of their documented hours. We seek Catholic students seeking to grow in their faith and help others do the same.
This agreement is made with the understanding that Sophomores will move into the Newman Center/Upper Rooms the following year as fully committed Peer Ministers (students are not bound to this in the contract, but the Peer Ministers position is intended to be a transitory step preparing students for larger roles within the ministry as Juniors and Seniors.)
